It is the new package that the cooperative Segreti Mediterraei has designed for art and nature lovers. The package includes a visit to some of the main naturalistic sites of the Reserve and, at the end of the second day, a visit to the Civic Museum of Taverna – a prestigious museum in Calabria.
Taverna, which was awarded with the orange flag by the Touring Club, is a small town located at the foot of the Sila Piccola Mountain, in the Sila National Park. The Civic Museum is situated in the suggestive 15th century Dominican cenobite monastery, to which the monumental Church of “San Domenico” is annexed.
In the Museum and in the Church the valuable paintings by the artist Mattia Preti, born in Taverna in 1613, are exposed. Called the Cavalier Calabrese, he is one of the most important masters of the seventeenth century Baroque art. The exhibition itinerary is a journey through time, from the works of the contemporary art gallery to the section dedicated to the works of the eighteenth and seventeenth centuries, along with the Church of “San Domenico”, called “Pinacoteca Pretiana”. Walking through the old town center you can admire the works of M.A.C.A.T. (Museum of contemporary outdoor art) and the streets of poetry.
